Nathan Peterman’s solid preseason continues for Bills

The Buffalo Bills expect Tyrod Taylor back for Week 1, but the team had to like what they saw from potential stand-in Nathan Peterman in the preseason finale on Thursday.

The rookie started and led the Bills on two scoring drives to open the contest versus the Detroit Lions. Peterman went 9-of-11 passing for 81 yards, guiding Buffalo to a 10-0 lead early before exiting in the Bills’ 27-17 win.

“Nate Peterman is developing,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said. “It’s important he goes through the process. I was proud of the way he played.”

On Thursday general manager Brandon Beane praised the fifth-round pick out of Pitt, saying Peterman owns “the moxie, the pocket presence, the leadership,” and “seems to be natural” leading the team.

Facing Lions backups — many of whom will be cut this weekend — Peterman displayed all those attributes.

The Bills employed a bevy of three-step drops with Peterman in (likely to help keep him healthy). The rookie quarterback displayed good pocket presence, got the ball out quickly, showed good accuracy and timing with receivers. In two drives, he completed passes that went for 15, 12, 11, 11 and 10 yards.

Facing backups takes some of the shine off Peterman’s performance (facing the Jets starters would be a different beast if he’s forced into action in Week 1), but it should bring a modicum of comfort to coaches that the rookie hasn’t seemed overwhelmed by the moment throughout the preseason. The Bills could be in worse shape if Taylor isn’t cleared for the season opener.

Buffalo Bills fire general manager Doug Whaley

The Buffalo Bills have parted ways with general manager Doug Whaley after four seasons, the team announced Sunday. The news comes hours after the conclusion of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Jersey Barrier For Sale

Whaley joined the team as assistant general manager in 2010 and was later hired as general manager in 2013 after Buddy Nix stepped down following that year’s draft. In Whaley’s four seasons as general manager, the team finished 30-34 and had just one winning season (2014).

The Bills also terminated the professional and amateur scouting departments, Pegula said at a press conference Sunday.

Whaley seemed to at least be on the hot seat, if not nearing the end of his tenure when he admitted he wasn’t included in the conversations surrounding the firing of head coach Rex Ryan.

The timing of Whaley’s firing was curious, of course, considering it came less than 24 hours after the conclusion of the 2017 NFL Draft. Bills owner Terry Pegula said keeping Whaley (and the scouting department) around through the draft completed the group’s work.

“The decision was made now because this is the end of the scouting year,” Pegula said. “We ran a process and as a result of that process after the draft we made the decision.”

“He put the whole thing together,” Pegula said of Whaley’s involvement with the 2017 draft.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported the scouting community expected the move, adding new Bills head coach Sean McDermott had a heavy hand in Buffalo’s draft-night trade.

Nike Bills #83 Andre Reed White Men's Stitched NFL Vapor Untouchable Limited JerseyThe Bills announced that they interviewed Panthers assistant general manager Brandon Beane on Thursday.

In addition, Don Gregory, the Panthers’ director of player personnel is considered a potential candidate for the vacancy as is Brett Veach, the Chiefs’ co-director of player personnel, Rapoport reported. Buffalo has also received permission to interview Texans director of pro personnel Brian Gaine, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported.

McDermott will be consulted by ownership during the GM search, Pegula said.

“Sure, I will ask Sean questions,” Pegula said. “We will use every resource available.”

Whaley’s draft tenure was marred by injuries to his lone two first round picks — receiver Sammy Watkins and defensive end Shaq Lawson — and later-round selections that failed to stick, as well as the albatross he immediately inherited and for which he was forced to find an alternative in E.J. Manuel. The Watkins selection became uglier after repeated struggles with foot issues, as well as the fact Whaley dealt away a 2015 first-round pick (and fourth-round selection) to move up to grab the wideout.

“During our search for a new general manager, Brandon stood out to Kim [Pegula] and I as he embodies the type of leader and type of person we want in our organization,” Bills owner and CEO Terry Pegula said in a statement released by the team. “Brandon has excelled in a variety of roles for a Panthers team that has consistently competed at a high-level in this league. We feel his vast understanding and experience in many facets of football operations will be invaluable to our club moving forward.”

In Carolina, Beane worked under one of the league’s top GMs in Dave Gettleman. The understudy also had a front-row seat to watch McDermott evolve into a bright and sought-after defensive mind.

“I am very excited for Brandon Beane. Brandon is a guy who started at the bottom and worked his way up,” Panthers coach Ron Rivera said in a statement. “He started as an intern here, starting in the football operations department and eventually became the head of the football operations department. He started evaluating talent and learned that part of the business as well. He became our assistant general manager and has been a tremendous help to me over the last few years as we made our runs in the playoffs – three straight NFC South division champions. Brandon played a big part in that.”

If the timing of Whaley’s firing was somewhat surprising, the decision itself was long coming. McDermott has been given considerable power to shape the Bills in his image and select his own lieutenants.

There’s no question McDermott and Beane believe they can make this work. The issue in Buffalo is whether team brass — one rung up the ladder — will exhibit the requisite patience to allow the Bills to grow and develop over the course of multiple seasons.

Dolphins aren’t aiming to match Patriots’ offseason

Miami Dolphins executive vice president Mike Tannenbaum is pleased with the team’s offseason so far, and he isn’t trying to stay in lockstep with the Patriots after years of trying do so with the Jets.

“Look, all you can do is control your own team,” Tannenbaum said, via the team’s official site. “We’ve got 31 other teams that are competitors, obviously. New England has done a tremendous job for a long time. They’re in our division. But we’re trying to build the best program for us. And that’s all baseball jerseys for cheap we can control.

“That’s enough on our plate. To worry about what we can do. To put the best team out there for the foreseeable future. We’ll play them twice in the fall and we’ll go from there. But we can’t just sit there and say, ‘hey, you know they made Move A, so we’ve got to do Move B.’ We’ve got to build and do what we feel jerseys cheap is in our best interest.”

This is a bit of a departure for Tannenbaum. From 2009-13, he had the yeoman’s task of fueling Rex Ryan’s death feud against New England. This often meant acquiring high-profile talent (LaDainian Tomlinson, Bart Scott, Jason Taylor, Plaxico Burress, Antonio Cromartie) and pushing the Jets to their salary-cap limits.

While the Dolphins haven’t exactly been thrifty in free agency since Tannenbaum arrived in Miami, they have definitely taken a less emotional and explosive approach to team building.

The Dolphins prioritized locking down the 26-year-old linebacker after he compiled 115 tackles, two interceptions and four passes defended in 2016, his first year in Miami.

The Dolphins acquired the linebacker in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles after one disappointing season, when Alonso was clearly struggling to return from a knee injury that wiped out his entire 2014 year.

As a rookie with the Buffalo Bills, Alonso became a cult-like figure in Western New York. The tackling demon was all over the field, compiling 159 tackles and football jerseys cheap and four interceptions in 2013.

Alonso had an up-and-down campaign in 2016, sometimes looking like his former rangy self, while in other games getting lost in the wash versus the run and looking slowed by hand and hamstring injuries. Pro Football Focus ranked Alonso their 48th linebacker in 2016.

The 30-year-old was a first-round pick by the Steelers organization back in 2007 and just finished the tail end of a five-year contract. Nearly all of the money is guaranteed.

Timmons has appeared in fewer than 16 games just once during his career, back in 2009 when he made appearances in 14 of 16 games. His stunning longevity has provided a bedrock in Pittsburgh’s swarming 3-4 defense for years and 2016 may have been one of his finest seasons to date.

In 2016, Timmons picked off a pair of passes, broke up five more cheap nfl nike jerseys, forced a fumble and logged 2.5 sacks to go along with a team-high 78 solo tackles, which is 23 more than the next highest player on the roster, Ryan Shazier.

Second-year Dolphins head coach Adam Gase is going with the flow in building the 2017 rendition of his team. His defense is already loaded with veteran talent and Timmons will be another seasoned professional added to the mix.

The team appears to have wooed him in style during the opening hours of free agency.

Reshad Jones signs five-year extension with Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are making Reshad Jones one of the highest-paid safeties in the league.

The Fins have signed Jones to a five-year, $55 million contract extension with $35 million in guarantees, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via a source informed of cheap jerseys and the deal. The Dolphins later confirmed the signing.

The guaranteed portion comes in just under the $40 million that Eric Berry landed from the Chiefs last week.

The backbone of Miami’s secondary, Jones believes he’s the best safety in the league. After becoming the only player with at least five interceptions and more than 100 tackles in 2015, he ranked No. 64 on NFL Network’s The Top 100 Players Of 2016 countdown.

Although a torn rotator cuff limited him to six games wholesale jerseys last year, he continued to show Pro Bowl form early in the season.

“I wish all our guys played with as much effort and heart as that guy plays,” coach Adam Gase said of Jones after the Dolphins’ Week 3 overtime victory versus the Browns.

The Dolphins announced they have given the linebacker a three-year contract extension, keeping Alonso under contract in Miami through 2020. The extension is worth $25 million, including $18.5 million guaranteed, which is tacked on to the $3.9 million restricted tender he received china jerseys this season, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday.

In a trade announced late Thursday night, Los Angeles said the Dolphins have agreed to send their sixth-round pick (No. 206) in exchange for Hayes and the Rams’ seventh-round pick (No. 223).

“Will has been an integral member of our defense since he became a Ram in 2012,” Rams GM Les Snead said in a statement. “His passion set the tone for our defense and served as an example for his teammates. Hayes logged five sacks in 14 games for the Rams last season.

Ex-Bills RB Fred Jackson ‘not ready to hang ’em up’

Authentic Jerseys Cheap

Six years ago, Tiki Barber was met with crickets in his attempt at an NFL comeback as a 36-year-old running back.

Former Buffalo Bills star Fred Jackson hopes to avoid a similar fate in his quest to continue his career at the same age.

Jackson has yet to file his retirement papers, per WGR 550’s Sal Capaccio, because the free-agent tailback believes he can still play after going unsigned throughout the 2016 season.

“I want to play, but it’s one of those things where we’ll see what happens,” Jackson said. “Training camps are around the corner. Some teams lose a back or two and maybe they give me a call. We’ll see what happens. I’m not ready to hang ’em up yet, but I do know that I’m 36 and a lot of teams are scared of that.”

Nike Raiders #4 Derek Carr White Men's Stitched NFL Elite Drift Fashion JerseyTeams have good reason to be “scared” off of Jackson at this stage of his career. As one of the slowest backs in the league during the 2015 season, Jackson was limited to pass protection and checkdowns in a third-down role with Seattle.

Considering the history of 36-year-old backs, it’s fair to be wonder if Jackson has lost another step or two he couldn’t afford to lose cheap jerseys in the intervening months.

With the exception of Hall of Famers John Riggins and Marcus Allen, no running back in NFL history has rushed for more than 300 yards in a season at age 36 or older. Only six players have ever gained more than 100 yards on the ground at that age.

After nine seasons of wear and tear at the game’s most physical position, Jackson is lucky to reach a point where he can walk away relatively pain-free if no NFL team comes calling.

“I do feel fortunate,” Jackson said in April, via The Cedar Rapids Gazette. “I’m at one of those roads now where if I do get another opportunity, do I take it, knowing that I’ve come out relatively unscathed? Do I put myself back out there in harm’s way?

“We’ll see if I even get that opportunity. My wife tells me all the time that me not playing last year, she didn’t miss worrying about me. That’s something to always take into consideration.”

Bills GM Beane preaches ‘open competition’ at QB

Tyrod Taylor is the best quarterback on the Buffalo Bills roster. That fact doesn’t guarantee anything for the veteran signal-caller.

Baltimore Orioles Jerseys Cheap

Speaking on WGR Radio 550 on Monday, new general manager Brandon Beane said there will be an open competition at every position, including quarterback.

“If we walked out there today I would say Tyrod is probably the starter, but we haven’t even gone through OTAs,” Beane said. “We got the young guy (fifth-round pick Nathan) Peterman, I thought he did some nice things this weekend at the minicamp. Cardale Jones has a huge arm and talent, I don’t know anything about him personally. T.J. Yates has done some starting in his career. So there are some guys on this roster.”

At this stage, Taylor is the clear starter in 2017, but his future is in question, with the Bills able to wiggle out of his contract after this season.

Both Beane and coach Sean McDermott have praised Taylor in recent days, but Buffalo is preaching competition in the infantile stage of the team’s latest rebuild.

Earn the right, from whatever job you have, whatever position you’re trying to get,” Beane said. “I’m not in the business of handing out positions on May the 15th. We’ve got a long way to go. It’s going to be fun. I’m excited about the challenge. That’s what I’m saying. I’ve got a lot of belief in Tyrod, but we’ve got other guys that are going to challenge for that as well.”

Taylor sat behind Joe Flacco in Baltimore for four seasons before getting his shot at the starting gig in Buffalo in 2015. The free agent acquisition is an anomaly among starting quarterbacks in the NFL, where most teams are anchored by high draft picks at the position.

“The draft is generally where you get a top-level quarterback,” Beane said of finding quarterbacks. “… Generally speaking you’re going to have to find your quarterback through the draft. Doesn’t mean you can’t find it somewhere else. Listen, we’re going to look at every avenue to do that, but if you just look at history, I’d be lying if I didn’t say you need to draft one.”

Best Place To Get Jerseys For Cheap

The Bills snagged Peterman this season. Would Beane add a quarterback in the draft every year?

“You don’t just draft them to draft them. You’ve got to believe in them,” he said. “I’m not going to just stand up here with a blindfold and throw darts and hope I hit something. We’re going to do our homework and our research every year until we find one…Until we feel like we are 100 percent at quarterback, we’re going to be turning over every stone to find that position and hopefully find a franchise guy at some point.”

It’s early in the process, but the tiptoeing around the Taylor question speaks to concerns new management might harbor about the 27-year-old being the long-term answer at the position. It’s up to Taylor to prove to the new brass he can not only win the gig in 2017, but down the line as well. Otherwise, Beane will continue to flip stones until he finds a quarterback he believes can get the job done.

Derek Carr’s MVP buzz growing as Raiders continue to impress

Michael Crabtree stood on the sideline, looked up at the scoreboard above the north end zone and took a deep breath. The eighth-year receiver crunched the numbers: His Raiders trailed the Buffalo Bills, 24-9, with 9:01 left in the third quarter, having been manhandled by the visitors on both sides of the ball. While 54,759 fans at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum fretted over the prospect of an unexpected stumble to a fired-up underdog, Crabtree smiled and thought to himself, We’ve only just begun to fight.

Best Chinese Jersey Site

Crabtree wasn’t lying. And as the rest of the football world is starting to figure out, when you’ve got the hottest right hand in the land at your disposal, you’ve always got a puncher’s chance.

After a 15-minute, 27-second flurry in which Raiders quarterback Derek Carr buoyed his burgeoning MVP candidacy — and, more important, fueled a jaw-dropping 29-0 run that propelled Oakland to a 38-24 victory — Crabtree stood at his locker and explained the mindset of a 10-2 team that currently leads in the race for homefield advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

“Bruh, you’ve been seeing this the whole season — we’ve been doing the same thing as we did today,” Crabtree told me, punching the air for emphasis. “When we hit a rough patch, we respond, plain and simple. When you’ve got a team like this, bruh, when you’ve got this many weapons, the sky’s the limit.”

Then Crabtree made reference to another high-profile Oakland athlete: Boxer Andre Ward, who two weeks ago fought back from a hellacious second-round knockdown to dethrone light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev.

“I was watching the Andre Ward fight (recently) — he was here today, too,” Crabtree said. “He got knocked down in the first part of the fight, but he just kept standing in there and came back and won. That inspired me. We’ve got the same type of drive on this team. That’s what I was thinking about when we got down today. And trust me, bruh, we didn’t flinch one time.”

At this point, the Raiders’ resilience shouldn’t be overly surprising to anyone. This was Oakland’s sixth fourth-quarter comeback of the 2016 season, a campaign which began with a dramatic road victory over the New Orleans Saints, capped by coach Jack Del Rio (aka Jack Del Huevos) making a tone-setting decision to win the game on a two-point conversion attempt.

Barcelona Soccer Jerseys For Kids

Now the AFC West-leading Raiders remain a game ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs — a team that handed them one of their two defeats — in advance of Thursday night’s rematch at Arrowhead Stadium. And though the 10-2 New England Patriots and defending champion Denver Broncos (8-4) will likely have plenty of influence on the race for the conference title, there are currently 53 dudes in silver and black who feel pretty good about their prospects.

After all, these aren’t your big brother’s Raiders. Last Sunday, after Carr dramatically returned from a pinkie dislocation on his throwing hand to lead Oakland to a victory over the Carolina Panthers, they clinched their first winning season since 2002, which ended with a jarring Super Bowl XXXVII defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Before the Raiders roared to life, Rex Ryan spent much of Sunday flipping the bird to his fleet of doubters. Laughed about in September as a candidate to lose his job, the Bills coach unleashed his top-ranked ground game against a Raiders defense allowing an NFL-worst 6.2 yards per play. Buffalo peaked just after the break when LeSean McCoy ripped off a 54-yard burst to set up a Tyrod Taylor scoring scramble that put Buffalo up 17-9. With 212 yards on the day at a strong 7.1 yards per pop, Buffalo used the combination of McCoy (17/130) and Mike Gillislee (8/49/2) to initially confound the Raiders, who couldn’t counter Shady’s patience and zigzagging magic or Gillislee’s straight-ahead hammer drops. Oakland tightened up down the stretch, though, to force three straight punts before Defensive Player of the Year candidate Khalil Mack nipped Taylor’s arm on a fourth-quarter lob that landed in the arms of safety Nate Allen. The Raiders scored four plays later to put this tilt on ice.

Michael Crabtree has been a revelation for the Raiders, but the wideout hurt the team in the second quarter by dropping a would-be touchdown pass two plays before he was flagged for taunting, a gaffe that forced Oakland to settle for a field goal. Still, Crabtree (7/74/1) made up for it with a pretty third-quarter grab in the back of the end zone to galvanize Buffalo’s demise.

Oakland’s ground game is led by Latavius Murray (20/82/2), but sign us up for more action from Jalen Richard, the undrafted rookie who gave the Raiders life with a handful of key bursts down the stretch. Murray spun his own gold, scoring twice to become the first Raiders back with 10-plus rushing touchdowns in a season since Marcus Allen in 1990.

Authentic Throwback Jerseys Wholesale

Nike Raiders #81 Tim Brown Black Men's Stitched NFL Elite Pro Line Gold Collection JerseyIt’s tough to call Carr the league MVP when Alex Smith has outplayed him in two head-to-head meetings. While Smith turned the ball over after halftime, it was his big plays early that put the Chiefs in front. Kansas City won for the first time in 44 years with a negative-three turnover differential because their playmakers — from Tyreek Hill to Travis Kelce to cornerback Marcus Peters and pass rusher Justin Houston — all came up big. Unheralded cornerbacks like Terrance Mitchell and Steven Nelson played huge roles.

Oakland’s young leaders, on the other hand, came up short. Amari Cooper failed to track a long pass from Carr that could have resulted in a touchdown. Cooper told reporters that the ball moved on him at the last second. That wasn’t the only odd look from Cooper on a night when he was targeted 10 times and only wound up with five catches for 29 yards. In a season that has included so much good fortune, it felt like everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the Raiders.

“Everything about tonight was unusual, to be honest,” Carr said. “To have our defense step up for us and make plays like that and for us to go out and not execute. You know, do things that we don’t do.”

This result is hardly a death sentence for Oakland’s Super Bowl chances, but the 10-3 team relinquished control of the AFC West to the Chiefs, who hold the tiebreaker over Oakland after the season sweep. The Raiders and Chiefs both have three tricky games left, so this race has a long way to go. The defending Super Bowl champion Broncos are only one loss back and they face both teams in the coming weeks.

While the Broncos and Chiefs have plenty of playoff race experience, these are entirely new circumstances for this young Raiders squad. Carr admitted that the Raiders were “punched in the mouth” Thursday and now they have to respond.

For an organization that hasn’t sniffed the playoffs since 2002, no one said that just winning, baby was going to be easy.

Cardinals want Brady to play: ‘Don’t want any excuses’

The Arizona Cardinals hope Tom Brady is granted another chance to fight his four-game suspension.

The New England Patriots quarterback would miss the season’s opener on Sunday Night Football against he Cards if the suspension is upheld. On Monday, Brady’s lawyers filed a petition for a rehearing of his suspension case against the NFL before the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York.

In a non-official poll taken by the Arizona Republic jersey, the majority of Cardinals hope Brady earns the hearing and has his suspension lifted or at least delayed.

The Cards grabbed talented but troubled defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche with the No. 29 overall pick.

One of the top interior talents in the 2016 draft, Nkemdiche tumbled down draft boards after questions about his motor and off-the-field questions, stemming from falling out of a fourth-floor window last December.
“There were some things I did off the field and these were repercussions,” Nkemdiche told NFL Media’s Deion Sanders when asked why he fell on draft day.

Nkemdiche couldn’t have landed in a better place. He’ll get plenty of opportunities on a D-line that needed and infusion of talent and cheap jerseys. Coach Bruce Arians is also an exceptional motivator, who keeps his players in line.

The Cards proved they could help troubled prospect overcome question marks and release his talent, as they did with Tyrann Mathieu in 2013.

If Nkemdiche has his head on straight, the Cards’ weak point could be a strength in 2016. Arizona added Chandler Jones via trade this offseason and Calais Campbell continues to be one of the most dominant interior defenders game in and game out.

The Cardinals are shoring up depth at the linebacker position.

Nike Cardinals #13 Jaron Brown Red Team Color Men's Stitched NFL Limited Tank Top JerseyArizona has signed former Chargers linebacker Donald Butler jersey, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday, according to sources informed of the move.

Butler was released by San Diego in March, just two years after signing a lucrative seven-year, $51.8 million contract with the Chargers. The move saved San Diego $9.41 million in salary-cap space, but sent Butler packing unexpectedly. A fixture on the Chargers’ defense for four years after being drafted in 2011, he had his worst showing in 2015, totaling just 43 combined tackles over a full 16-game slate.

Butler will hope to factor into the Cardinals’ plans at inside linebacker, the defense’s weakest position group. He will compete for a starting role with desert veterans Kevin Minter and Deone Bucannon jersey.

Both clubs have accomplished, veteran starters in Carson Palmer and Philip Rivers, but with both in their mid-30s, the time could be right for either club to acquire a young quarterback to develop in an apprentice role. With just 10 career starts at OSU, and after losing his starting role with the Buckeyes midseason last year, Jones is considered authentic jerseys and more of a developmental NFL prospect than an immediate answer for a team in need of a starter. As such, he could be a strong fit with either team.

The Cardinals have also had a private workout with Jones, as have the Buffalo Bills. With Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor having just one more season left on his contract, Buffalo could be yet another destination where Jones could spend his rookie year learning from the bench, and preparing for what could potentially be a better opportunity to play in Year 2.

For a developmental prospect, however, the price could be steep. At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, and with highly impressive arm strength, Jones could be chosen as high as the second round, according to NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah.
