The wild ride of the expansion Vegas Golden Knights careened past exceptional and hit surreal at Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday.
Trailing by a goal late in the third period, the Golden Knights scored twice in 10 seconds and defeated the Calgary Flames 4-2, tying the NHL record for most victories cheap Anaheim Ducks jerseys by an expansion team. With 33 wins, they share the record with the Florida Panthers and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, who each reached that total in 1993-94.
But Vegas (33-12-4) got there in its 49th game … in January.
The Houdini-like escape even had some of the Golden Knights searching for Anaheim Ducks jerseys ways to describe the outcome.
“I can’t really put it into words,” defenseman Nate Schmidt said. “It was something else. The guys were pretty fired up on the bench. When you don’t play your best game … you just find a way to win nhl jerseys wholesale. That’s what good teams do, you take a lucky bounce and that’s just the way it goes.”
It was fitting that the Golden Knights tied the record with a win that perfectly defines who they are wholesale nhl jerseys and what they are about. They are 5-6-1 when trailing entering the third period, for a .417 winning percentage, by far the best in the League.
They refuse to give up, no matter the time or place or opponent.
They haven’t strayed much from their expansion script, from Game 1 to Game 49. Game 1, back on Oct. 6, was a template for their success youth Ryan Getzlaf jersey: James Neal scored the go-ahead goal with 2:44 remaining in the third period and Vegas won 2-1 at the Dallas Stars.
Tampa Bay, which debuted at No. 1 on Oct. 19, received 214 points, eight more than the Vegas Golden Knights, who have defeated the Lightning twice this season and are one point behind them with one game in hand in the League standings.
The Lightning were ranked No. 1 by seven of the 14 staff members who participated in the Super 16. They were ranked No. 2 by five people and No. 3 by three. The Golden Knights were ranked first by five staff members, and the Boston Bruins were ranked first by two.
The Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche moved into the top 10, and the Philadelphia Flyers and Minnesota Wild replaced the Los Angeles Kings and Columbus Blue Jackets in the Super 16.
To create the power rankings, each of the participating staff members put together his or her version of what they think the Super 16 should look like. Those are submitted and a point total is assigned to each.
The team picked first is given 16 points, second gets 15, third gets 14 and so on down to No. 16, which gets one point.
“I think there are some guys that could play better on our team that are veteran guys. I think we could have more from other guys mens Ryan Kesler jersey and they know that and they are going to make a point of trying to do that in the second half of the season and that, in turn, will make us a much better team.”
The Kings can’t expect more from Doughty, who is having a season worthy of consideration for the Norris Trophy, which he won in 2016.
Doughty has 35 points (seven goals, 28 assists) this season, tied for fifth among NHL defensemen. No one in the League plays more than the 27:13 Doughty averages per game. He has four game-winning goals.
If he gets the help he expects, from injured players getting healthy and others returning to form, Doughty believes the sky is the limit for the Kings. He hasn’t ruled out catching the division-leading Vegas Golden Knights, who are 11 points ahead of Los Angeles.
“We are going to have a really good chance to make a push. We want to catch Vegas, and that is going to be a tough thing to do,” he said. “We’re going to have to win a lot of hockey games.”
And if the Kings make the playoffs? Watch out.
“I think as long as we get [Carter] back and everyone else stays healthy, we’ll have a legitimate shot at, first off, being a playoff contender and then, if we get into the playoffs, that is where we will do damage,” he said. “That’s what we are built for cheap jerseys, the playoffs.”
